Trash collection in Homer

Homer is a little different than what we're used to as far as modern conveniences. They do not have trash pickup, so you take your own. It's not necessarily a landfill either. You throw your trash in a big warehouse and there is a forklift moving stuff around. I don't really know where it goes from there. However, if you want to see a mass amount of Eagles in one spot and practically reach out and touch one, this is the place to go.

Most of the town does not have access to city water so there is a water delivery service. Once a week a big water truck pulls up and refills the 2,000 gallon tank in the heated garage where we are staying. They only have 3 people here at one time, so we have been really worried about running out of water. We have a new appreciation for it, and have done crazy things to conserve so we don't run out. Such as: filling kitchen pots while waiting for the shower to heat up and then using it for dishes. Turning off the water while we lather up and then turn it back on to rinse. Letting the yellow toilet water mellow. Collecting snow for dishes. Laundry, does it really truly need to be washed? Does it smell? Are there visible spots?

The immature Eagles are HUGE!

Lexi isn't a slow patient videographer, but you get the idea.
